greenlettuceThe Heart Rate Watch Company blog recently published a new article on “How To Increase Red Blood Count With Diet.”

“Endurance athletes have always been trying to find ways to increase red blood cell count since red blood cells transport oxygen and remove carbon dioxide from the body,” says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company and the articles author.

“Our company has close ties with the University human performance lab and we have a deep history with elite athletes, so we like to share that information with our customers,” says Squire. He adds, “Gaining an edge is all based upon knowledge of training and dietary information.”

HEMOGLOBIN

Hemoglobin, which is an iron-rich protein that is part of the red blood cell. While bone marrow produces more red blood cells over time there are certain foods that can help in increasing the production of red blood cells.

THE RIGHT FOODS

Lentil beans, kidney beans, dark leafy vegetables like spinach and kale, all contain iron. Red meat, animal liver, dried prunes, dried raisins and egg yolks offer the same benefit. “These foods help your body produce more red blood cells,” says Squire.

VITAMIN B9 and B12 RICH FOODS

Vitamin B9, commonly called folic acid, also helps the body produce more red blood cells. “Foodwise, folic acid in found in kale, spinach, dried beans, peas, nuts and even in some enriched cereals and grains,” says Squire.

“You can see the full article by visiting the Heart Rate Watch Company blog , as well as read articles on other topics like hydration, supplements and some heart rate monitor reviews,” says Squire. He adds, “All of this is time-honored information that many world-class athletes have used for years but it can benefit you too because this is about the race for health.”
